Chartreuse is technically a liqueur from southern France that has a yellow green hue. What captures my attention is the brilliant, often neon yellow-green that often shows up in nature. It’s not just yellow. It’s a shocking yet elegant, glowing chartreuse that sometimes feels unreal.

Centering around a seadragon, this composition entangles cymbidiums, Cypripedioideae (lady slipper orchids), a Notodoris minor nudibranch, yellow tang fish, Lamprima latreillii (Golden Green Stag Beetle), and zooplankton. Fun fact: I painted this while on holiday with family in Kauai.
